At AESM, we customize yoga therapy sessions to your individual needs and goals. Our treatment draws from a number of modalities, including physical postures and sequences, breathing practices, hands-on work, awareness/meditation exercises, and relaxation techniques. Restorative yoga (employing props) also adds to the yoga therapy experience.
Yoga’s aim is to create harmony in the body, breath, and mind. Physical postures (asanas) promote balance of strength and elasticity in the muscles, healthy range of motion in the joints, and restore symmetry and alignment. Breathing techniques (pranayama) oxygenate muscle tissue and massage organs, promote awareness and are used to energize or relax our nervous system as required. Awareness of breath and body sets the stage for concentration and meditation.

Yoga therapy stands either on its own or complements other physical therapies. No prior experience in yoga is needed.
