Lindsay Dixon

Osteopath Toronto and Athletic Therapist

Lindsay Dixon has over ten years of experience working in the field of sports medicine and health and wellness and twelve years of post-secondary education.

She obtained her Honours Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from York University. She then went onto pursue studies in Athletic Therapy at Sheridan College and completed the C.A.T.A national exam where she gained national recognition as a certified Athletic Therapist.

Her appreciation for a holistic approach to health lead her to study osteopathy. Lindsay successfully defended her thesis in 2015 following 5 years of osteopathy education at the Canadian College of Osteopathy in Toronto (www.osteopathy-canada.com). As an osteopathic manual practitioner she has particular interest in the interconnection between the mind and body. Her thesis titled “The effect of global osteopathic treatment on Anxiety as Measured by the Hamilton Anxiety Scale” assessed the efficacy of osteopathy as an adjunctive treatment in individuals suffering from moderate to severe Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Lindsay’s preventative philosophy is in line with the teachings of Osteopathy helping to remove restrictions for the body to restore health and allow the body to function at it’s best.

Lindsay incorporates osteopathy manual based techniques and philosophy coupled with her expertise in functional based movement and exercise prescription into her practice.

Lindsay has extensive experience working with recreational and competitive athletes including but not limited to triathletes, basketball, volleyball, soccer, endurance running and rugby. However, her training in both athletic therapy and osteopathy enables her to work with all individuals, ages and abilities to assist them in restoring their health.

Lindsay is an avid endurance athlete completing several triathlons including a 1/2 ironman and marathons including Boston marathon. She has contributed to the Canadian Running Magazine including video education series and articles on injury prevention and wellness.

Recently she had the opportunity to work as an Athletic Therapist at the Pan Am Games in Toronto summer 2015 with gymnastics, racquetball, squash and trampoline events.
